HOW WE STARTED OUT

Mark and Belinda Gentert opened Gentert Packing Company in November of 1988 with the very basics to run the business. This included a small cutting table, saw, and grinder and a small brick oven.  Very little sausage and smoked products were made when Gentert Pack first opened, including the now award winning hams and bacon with a recipe that remains unchanged since day one.

Belinda began working at the plant full-time in 1993 and that is when the duo decided to ramp up their sausage production and began experimenting with different varieties and striving to learn as much as they could about the industry. During this time they made a lifelong friendship with fellow meat processors, Cappy and Sue Pinkerton.  It wasn’t until they met them that they would truly become successful in the meat processing industry, learning the ins and outs of the business and the sausage making process.

A lot has changed in the 30 years that Gentert Packing Company has been in business.  A new addition was added to the building as well as new equipment that has helped to ensure the growth and continued success for the business.  Mark and Belinda continue to be the cornerstone for the business, taking care of the slaughter, sausage making, and ensuring a quality product.  Their eldest daughter, Heather, assists in day to day production as well as all of the marketing and graphics, including their labels and promotional products.  Brianna, the youngest daughter, also assists with the business by working during deer season and designing and maintaining the website and custom photos for the company.

Gentert Pack also adds other employees during deer season.  Luis Torres has been working with Mark and Belinda for over ten years helping to bone out deer and to keep customers happy.  Chad Lang also helps by doing odd and ends jobs throughout deer season to ensure a quality and timely product.

Gentert Pack always has been and will continue to be a true family business.  Not only do we work as a family, but we also consider our customers family!  If you would like to be a part of our family, come down to Holstein and see what we have to offer!
